"I began building my first engine when I was 13 years old. My father, who was also a ‘motor head', bought me my first Master Engine Rebuild Kit for my 14th Christmas. It was the best gift ever. I rebuilt a small block Chevrolet engine for my '67 Chevy Impala I earned that summer for bailing hay. Surrounding myself with knowledgeable people and reading every book and magazine possible, I learned every component that was bolted to that car. I began to build other engines and provided that service for friends and family members while going to school. This was the start of my new ‘enterprise' that was created out of my passion for hot rods. In the following years, I graduated at the top of my vocational school, earned my Master ASE certification, and attained GM Master Technician status. Further following my passion for fast cars, I drag raced professionally for 6 ½ years on the NHRA circuit full-time and won many NHRA Championships. This success attracted more business than I could handle by myself and my 1 ½ stall garage. I made a decision to expand Cheney Performance and have been blessed with great growth and success. Our business has been primarily marketed by word of mouth. To this day, Cheney Performance has not even a sign on the building, yet boasts of a customer base currently over 600 families strong. We strive to live by the Golden Rule - treating others as we would like to be treated - and giving back to each customer a little more than they asked for. I am thankful for being able to live out my dreams and help others create and live out their dreams." - Jeff Cheney |
